Why I started Dancing
I've been asked many times why I started dancing. While everyone has their own personal reasons, mine stem from the loss of my husband after a long valiantly fought illness. Life changed for me, overnight. Depression was all I knew and I must admit, I was not coping very well. A downward spiral led me to constant tears and frequent visits to the refrigerator. Even with the love and support from my wonderful family, I could not get my head above water.
In conversation with a co-worker, Fred Astaire in Red Bank was brought up. I took the number and tucked it away. On a very lonely day in the office by myself, I found the number and decided to call. A very perky young lady answered and I made that first step. I walked into the studio quite timidly and met T.J. After our two lessons were completed, we sat down and spoke.
He asked “What do you want from this?”
Answer: “Meeting someone is NOT my purpose!”
His answer: “That's up to you.”
My statement: “If asked, I want to be able to say “yes, I can Tango.”
His answer: “We can definitely take care of that.”
My statement: “I want to lose 30 lbs.”
His answer: “Well, you are certainly in the right place!”
Ten months later, I met many wonderful friends---a second family if you will. I can Tango, and I am having more fun than I feel I should be allowed. Oh! and by the way…I did not lose 30 lbs. I LOST 50!!!! Ice Cream anyone?
