WHAT DO I WEAR FOR MY FIRST LESSON?
Anything that is comfortable to move in, especially footwear, you might find
it easier to wear the shoes that your going to use when you dance. Sneakers
are sometimes difficult to move in on the hardwood floors.
Ladies - a low, sturdy, closed heel may be good to start with.
DO I NEED A PARTNER TO TAKE DANCE LESSONS?
No, our group classes are primarily single, and partners are rotated throughout
the class. You can also take private lessons on a one to one basis with
our instructors.
HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO LEARN TO DANCE?
It's actually easy to learn. It will take time to learn like most exercises,
but the learning is easy and fun. A steady approach with periodic practice
will produce visible
results in a short period.
CAN I LEARN TO DANCE?
Dancing is like any other form of exercise, but it's done to the beat and rhythm of music and
coordinated with a partner to produce a pleasing and graceful appearance. Moving to a beat and
coordinating with your partner are things that are easily learned. Anyone who is able to walk can dance.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE BEFORE I'M REALLY GOOD?
It really depends on the individual, everybody can work at their own pace and at the studio we will
try to accomodate your every need.
I AM AFRAID I'LL BE SELF-CONSCIOUS ON THE DANCE FLOOR WHILE I'M LEARNING?
Everyone, including Fred Astaire, started from the beginning! The students
and instructors at the studio are very helpful. Our students are constantly
telling us how many people compliment their dancing when out at a
function. The studio is a safe and supportive enviornment in which to learn
to dance. Students enjoy the learning experience and are amazed at how quickly
they become proficient. There is absolutely no reason to
feel self-conscious.
HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TAKE LESSONS EACH WEEK?
That is entirely up to you. Some students come in once a week while others come in several
times a week. We'll develop a schedule to fit your goals.
WILL I HAVE A GOOD TEACHER?
Yes, all of our instructors are very talented, qualified and most of all friendly and helpful.
WHAT BENEFIT WILL I GET FROM DANCING?
Students have told us that besides learning to dance, they gain self-confidence, heightened self-esteem,
improved posture, friendships, a place to socialize, and other benefits. Each person derives different,
but similar, benefits from dancing.
SO IS BALLROOM DANCING RIGHT FOR ME?
YES! YES! YES! And we would love to help you acheive your dancing goals whatever they may be.
SEE YOU SOON AND HAPPY DANCING!
